Consultant Minimally Invasive & Bariatric Surgeon
Al-Makassed Hospital, Jerusalem · Arab Hospitals Group

Assistant Professor of Surgery, Al-Quds University
Director, General Surgery Residency Program, Arab Hospitals Group

I am a Consultant Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgeon with over 10 years of experience in advanced laparoscopic, bariatric, endocrine, and gastrointestinal surgery. I currently practice at Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem and within the Arab Hospitals Group, including Istishari Hospital, Ibn Sina Hospital, and Arab Specialized Hospital, with a strong focus on innovation, precision, and patient-centered surgical outcomes.

Academically, I serve as an Assistant Professor at Al-Quds University, where I am actively involved in surgical education, clinical mentorship, and academic development for medical students and surgical trainees.

I also serve as the Director of the General Surgery Residency Program within the Arab Hospitals Group, leading surgical training and educational development across multiple hospitals and institutions. My work focuses on building structured, competency-based surgical education systems aligned with international standards and modern training methodologies.

As a proud member of the Robotic Global Surgical Society (TROGSS) and an author with IntechOpen, I am actively engaged in advancing AI-enhanced, robotic, and minimally invasive surgical techniques to improve surgical safety, efficiency, and recovery.

Beyond clinical practice, I am deeply passionate about developing the future of surgery in Palestine through education, mentorship, and innovation. Together with colleagues and institutions, we are working to build internationally recognized surgical training programs that empower Palestinian surgeons and connect them with the global surgical community.

Driven by curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement, my mission is to advance minimally invasive surgery and contribute to safer, smarter, and globally connected surgical care.

“Mastery begins where complexity is unavoidable.” Dr. Maree

Every page on this site is adapted from the Visual Guides for Medical Students series — Bile and Jaundice and Calcium & the Parathyroid — each deposited with a DOI and licensed CC BY-NC 4.0. You are free to share, print and adapt them for non-commercial teaching, with attribution.

I also publish peer-reviewed research. My 2026 chapter AI-Enhanced Bariatric and Endobariatric Surgery (IntechOpen, doi:10.5772/intechopen.1014639) reviews around 300 studies on machine learning in metabolic surgery. Full list of publications.

Important

This site is an educational aid for medical students and trainees. It is not a clinical protocol and does not replace clinical judgement, senior advice, local guidelines or the current literature. Laboratory reference intervals differ between laboratories — always read results against those printed on your own report. Drug names appear for teaching only: check licensing, indications and doses before prescribing.

Corrections

If you spot an error — a figure, a number, a reference interval — please say so. Teaching material is only useful if it is right, and corrections are welcome from students as readily as from colleagues. Email me.
